Staff Software Engineer, Data (Employer of Record)

Job Summary

Design, build, and scale cloud-based data pipelines across internal, third-party, and cloud platforms while extracting, loading, and transforming data using modern engineering principles. Lead architectural direction for data solutions, mentor engineers, and conduct code reviews to enforce team standards and improve application quality. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align technologies with business processes, debug production issues, and drive continuous improvement through Agile practices and impact analysis. Work remotely from India with overlap in U.S. business hours to support global team collaboration.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field of study; or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience or comparable depth of experience, with recent experience building on cloud data platforms
  • Experience in the lead role overseeing technical direction of a team of data engineering talent
  • Strong understanding of one or more programming languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Java, Scala)
  • Practical experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Agile/SCRUM and Waterfall
  • Experience designing scalable batch and streaming pipelines
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and lakehouse principles
  • Experience with data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks
  • Experience working on mission-critical enterprise-class applications
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and influence stakeholders to create innovative solutions
  • Be collaborative with other team members, seeking a diversity of thought to meet business outcomes
  • Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input and coach team members and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day
  • Experience and understanding of how to connect the work being done and how it drives business value
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information (both verbal and written) to all levels, including senior leadership
  • Regularly overlap with U.S. business hours to support collaboration with global team members
  • Remain compliant with our policies, processes and guidelines
  • Attendance as required by department

Desired Qualifications

  • Expertise in Apache Spark
  • Strong working knowledge of Databricks (e.g., Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, DLT, Auto Loader)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, MSK)
  • Financial services or FinTech industry experience
