Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer at Pantheon leading architecture and hands-on development for a real-time, collaborative web content platform. You will own end-to-end design across backend APIs, real-time synchronization, and frontend editing interfaces, partnering with product and design to shape scalable, multi-tenant infrastructure and developer experiences. You’ll drive engineering standards, evaluate build vs buy tradeoffs, mentor engineers, and contribute to UX considerations for stateful, browser-based editing workflows. The role demands ownership, distributed systems thinking, and the ability to operate across cloud-native environments while delivering a delightful, low-latency editing experience for content teams. Office in Vancouver, BC, with remote-forward flexibility across locations.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience across full product lifecycle
- Genuine full-stack capability (backend APIs, data services, cloud infrastructure; frontend UIs)
- Experience with real-time or collaborative systems
- Cloud-native fluency (GCP/AWS/Cloudflare/Azure) with containerization and modern deployment pipelines
- API design expertise (REST, GraphQL, event-driven)
- Frontend architecture chops (component modeling, state management, browser performance)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
