Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer in the Security Platform Engineering group at Coinbase. Lead the architecture and execution of critical cryptographic infrastructure enabling global regulatory compliance, including the Tier-0 Multi-Party Computation (MPC) engine that secures assets under custody. Own secure, high-availability services in a zero-trust environment, mentor engineers, drive code quality, and secure alignment with cross-functional teams (Security, Product, Policy) to ensure flawless execution. Bring 8+ years of software engineering experience, expertise in applied cryptography, KMS/HSMs, and strong proficiency in Golang, Java, C++, or Rust, with a track record of delivering large-scale, resilient systems and navigating complex regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering with demonstrated success building highly available, distributed systems
- Deep domain expertise in applied cryptography, Key Management Systems (KMS), or Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), with proven experience safely implementing cryptographic protocols
- Experience with programming in Golang, Java, C++, or Rust; ability to operate in a Golang-heavy environment
- Proven track record operating Tier-0 or highly critical infrastructure with emphasis on resilience, security, and low latency
- Experience leading a team's technical strategy, architecture, and deliverables for large-scale projects including navigating regulatory requirements
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements
