Job Summary
Ship fast against a roadmap you help shape for Claude Science, an AI workbench for researchers spanning literature, databases, and scientific computing. Interface directly with working scientists and academic labs to translate their workflows into engineering priorities. Partner with product and design to turn the researcher experience from hypothesis to publication into shipped features. Work closely with research to improve model capabilities by shaping evals, surfacing failure modes, and feeding real-world user interactions back into development. Drive cross-team alignment to ship impactful work in a category no one has defined yet, shaping both product and architecture from 0 to 1.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years at a Staff or equivalent technical leadership level
- Experience building products from 0 to 1 in fast-moving environments
- Ability to set technical direction with limited precedent
- Experience building AI products
- Comfort working directly with technical domain experts
- Ability to drive cross-team alignment
- Influence over authority
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Desired Qualifications
- Background in chemistry, biology, physics, or another science
- Experience working with research teams to improve domain-specific model capabilities
- Experience with evaluation frameworks
