Job Summary
Staff Software Development Engineer (Datapath) at Zscaler, hybrid role based in San Jose, CA. Defines software design specifications and implements bug-free code using test-driven methodology; identifies opportunities to refactor for maintainability and reusability; collaborates with security, UI, platform, analytics, and QA teams; partners with Product Management to drive requirements; leads and mentors junior engineers. Requires extensive experience in cloud networking and security applications with C/C++, Go, or Python; deep knowledge of networking protocols (DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS); hands-on work with AWS/Azure/GCP networking components and services (Route53, transit gateway, NACLs, security groups, GWLB, NAT gateways); and AWS/Azure/GCP database services and SDKs. Preferred: experience building security firewall features, SaaS platforms, cloud-scale performance, and auto-scaling. Base pay range: $129,500—$185,000 USD. Hybrid work model with in-office San Jose, CA location and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience developing large-scale cloud networking and security applications
- expertise in software design and programming in C/C++, Go, or Python
- deep knowledge of DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS
- experience with AWS/Azure/GCP networking components (transit gateway, IGW, NATGW, NACL, security groups, GWLB, ILB, Route53)
- hands-on experience with AWS/Azure/GCP database services, PubSub mechanisms, and SDKs
- familiarity with security Firewall features (preferred)
- experience building solutions for Software as a Service platforms (preferred)
- experience with auto-scaling groups for dynamic workload traffic (preferred)
