Job Summary
As a Staff Software Engineer focusing on backend development at Databricks, you will design, implement, and operate micro-services for the Databricks platform. Responsibilities include writing software in Scala/Java, building data pipelines using Apache Spark and Kafka, and integrating with cloud APIs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing large-scale distributed systems and possess extensive experience in Java, Scala, or C++. Additionally, familiarity with cloud technologies and a commitment to software security is essential. Prospective candidates should hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 10 years of relevant production experience.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, or a related field
- 10+ years of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language
- Experience in architecting, developing, deploying, and operating large scale distributed systems
- Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with software security and systems that handle sensitive data
- Good knowledge of SQL
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures
- Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables
