Job Summary
As a Staff Software Engineer with a backend focus at Databricks, you will design, implement, test, and operate micro-services for the Databricks platform. Responsibilities include writing software in Scala/Java, building data pipelines with Apache Spark and Apache Kafka, integrating with third-party applications, and interacting with cloud APIs such as AWS and Azure. This position requires extensive experience in production-level software development, expertise in distributed systems, and proficiency in cloud technologies. You will address real-world challenges while contributing to a platform that processes vast amounts of data.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field
- 10+ years of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language
- Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working on a SaaS platform
- Experience in architecting, developing, deploying, and operating large scale distributed systems
- Experience with software security and systems that handle sensitive data
- Good knowledge of SQL
- Experience with cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes)
