Job Summary
We are seeking a lead Backend Software Engineer with extensive experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale applications and distributed systems as part of the Billing Platform team at GEICO. Responsibilities include overseeing designs of billing platform subsystems, ensuring quality and performance of solutions, providing strategic guidance to multiple billing teams, leading the development of complex software systems, and mentoring engineers. Candidates must have 8+ years of software development experience, a strong architectural background, coding skills in Java or similar languages, and familiarity with various technologies relevant to the position.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional, hands-on software development experience
- Strong experience in architecting and designing large-scale, complex systems
- Proficient coding skills in Java, Kotlin, Golang, or similar languages
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, or their equivalents
- Proficient in using cloud computing tools throughout the software development lifecycle
- Skilled in collaborating across engineering teams
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the financial technology sector, with a focus on billing, payments, subscription management, and financial reporting
- Proven track record in designing and implementing workflow engines
