Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer responsible for leading designs of major software components and building a fast, scalable real-time crime center application across cloud, web, and mobile. Lead architecture reviews, guide initiatives to improve availability, performance, and usability, and mentor senior engineers. Collaborate with device teams to source geo-located data from patrol cars, body cameras, and drones, and with product/design teams to deliver on the roadmap. Expect to drive cross-team efforts, write maintainable code, and deliver impactful features that help emergency responders make better decisions. Seasoned 8+ years of experience with cloud systems, data storage (relational/NoSQL), and stream processing; nice-to-have experience with React/Redux/Typescript, native mobile (iOS/Android), and Maps/Cartography. Role is based in Seattle with a hybrid in-office schedule (onsite Tue–Fri, remote Mon).
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Proven track record of designing and building complex, highly-available cloud systems
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with stream processing (Message brokers)
