Job Summary

Staff Software Engineer, Agents role focused on building Nightshift, an AI-powered investigative agent for law enforcement use cases. Responsible for shipping production systems, improving agent reliability through testing and evals, building infrastructure to enable faster iteration, and designing backend systems to operate safely on Flock’s large-scale data platform. Expect to own ambiguous, high-impact technical problems end-to-end, influence architecture across teams, and serve as a multiplier for engineers building AI-powered customer experiences at Flock. The role emphasizes experience with production ML/AI systems, agentic workflows, and tools like LangChain, OpenAI/Claude SDKs, plus cloud infrastructure and data systems; NICE TO HAVE items include RAG systems, multi-agent systems, voice agents, AWS/Kubernetes/ClickHouse, and AI evaluation practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong backend/software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience shipping production code and customer-facing products at scale
  • Experience with LLMs, AI systems, and agentic workflows in production
  • Familiarity with LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI SDK, or Claude Agents SDK
  • Strong product and customer mindset
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and startup-style environments
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, databases, and backend systems
  • Strong collaboration, ownership, and communication skills
