Job Summary
Staff Engineer leads technical strategy for Acquisition & Onboarding, mentors engineers, and drives quality and velocity across full-stack development (mobile, web, backend). Responsibilities include setting long-term technical direction, owning the team’s operations and availability (monitoring, on-call playbooks), defining code review and design standards, and developing talent through guidance and leadership. The role requires experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale with Python/Kotlin/AWS/Kubernetes, frontend work with React/React Native or Vue, and ability to operate in ambiguity while influencing cross-functional teams. This position includes an on-call rotation and visa sponsorship is offered for candidates based in Spain. Location: Remote Spain, with occasional office presence as part of a remote-first environment.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer
- proficient in Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes
- proficient in React, React Native or Vue
- experience delivering major features or architecture plans
- strong communication skills
- on-call rotation requirement
