Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer/Claims Pay Architect — lead end-to-end architecture for the Claims Pay domain, migrating from SugarCRM monolith to an API-first, event-driven platform. Set technical direction across teams, drive consolidation of duplicate components, define ADRs, and translate client SLA requirements into architectural constraints. Mentor engineers, collaborate with product, DevOps, IT Ops, and integrations, and advocate for scalable, reliable delivery. Emphasis on distributed systems, microservices, event-driven messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), API design (REST/GraphQL/gRPC), and cloud/CI/CD. Domain focus in payments and insurance claims; senior individual contributor with 8-12+ years of experience; familiarity with SugarCRM and modernization strategies; strong leadership and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- 8-12+ years of experience in software engineering or architecture
- Experience with SugarCRM or similar legacy/CRM platforms
- Proven success decomposing monolithic systems into microservices or distributed architectures
- Strong experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
- Expertise in API design (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC), including contract design and versioning
- Experience driving technical strategy, standards, and design reviews across teams
- Domain experience in payments, insurance claims, or financial services
