Job Summary
Staff SRE at NordVPN designs, builds, and operates globally distributed backend services, makes architectural decisions for internal services, and manages full lifecycle activities from planning to postmortems. You will maintain and improve infrastructure tooling, contribute to engineering standards and documentation, and evaluate AI tooling (LLMs, Claude Code, model integrations) to enhance engineering workflows. The role emphasizes high ownership, production readiness, and shipping services from zero to globally deployed, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and operational maturity.
Required Qualifications
- Designing and operating globally distributed systems
- Systems architecture - service communication, data flow, resilience patterns
- Linux administration at scale (systemd, kernel tuning, debugging production systems)
- Docker - building, shipping, and running containers in production
- Databases - PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, OpenSearch, VictoriaMetrics
- Web servers, load balancing, and failover (Nginx, HAProxy, or similar)
- Working with dedicated/bare-metal hardware
- Python or another scripting/programming language
- Familiarity with AI/LLM tooling and practical application in engineering workflows
