Job Summary
Senior Lead Backend Platform Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend libraries and frameworks using Java and Spring Boot for an asynchronous architecture powering Investments' ecosystem. Build scalable, secure components with out-of-the-box non-functional controls, drive standardisation of workflows and tooling across Platform and Product squads, mentor teams, and collaborate with SDLC and Infrastructure to deliver Platform as a Product. Emphasis on security, architectural guidelines, reviews, and continuous improvement across JP Morgan’s regulated financial services environment.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework
- Experience with Maven and Gradle
- Understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices
- Security best practices in backend development
- Designing modern APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to drive change and influence technical direction
- Understanding needs of engineering teams
- Passion for standardisation and engineering excellence
- Experience with coding standards, code reviews, and automated testing
- Understanding importance of controls and compliance in regulated organisations
