Job Summary
Staff/Senior Engineer for Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS) at the Hiroshima Fab15 site. Acts as the on-site technical anchor and global AMHS governance lead, driving KPI improvements, operational excellence, and standardized best practices across Micron's worldwide fab network. Responsible for defining and monitoring AMHS metrics (OEE, system uptime, carrier purge efficiency, wafer logistics throughput, stocker/NTB utilization, TTDT, and cross-fab transport), leading data-driven root-cause analyses, developing recovery playbooks, and mentoring AMHS engineers globally. Coordinates with site teams and global stakeholders to optimize wafer logistics, purge cycles, tool throughput, and automation deployments, while shaping global strategies and ensuring smooth technology transitions into production. Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, 5–10 years in semiconductor manufacturing or factory automation, strong scripting/automation skills, excellent communication, and cross-cultural collaboration capabilities. Japanese language proficiency is highly preferred for collaboration with regional suppliers and fab counterparts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field)
- 5–10 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, AMHS, or factory automation
- Proven experience leading large-scale, complex automation systems in high-volume manufacturing environments
- Strong systems thinking with ability to influence across organizations, geographies, and disciplines
- Solid understanding of AMHS KPI frameworks and data-driven continuous improvement methodologies
- Scripting & Automation Literacy: proficiency in scripting or programming languages to automate routine reporting, data extraction, KPI dashboards, and operational workflows
- Strong Communication Skills: ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Cross-cultural Collaboration: ability to work across diverse, multicultural, geographically distributed teams
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Mindset: structured, data-driven approach to root cause analysis
- Influence Without Authority: ability to align and drive decisions across organizations without direct reporting authority
