Job Summary
Design and conduct experiments to develop new NGS assay products, then analyze and interpret results for internal and external communication. Support on-market Next Generation Sequencing products as a subject matter expert, including presenting experimental demonstrations at scientific conferences. Utilize wet-lab and dry-lab skillsets to build bioinformatics workflows for NGS assays. This role reports to the Associate Director R&D within the Assay Development team in Boulder, CO, as an on-site position requiring occasional travel for conferences. The Staff Scientist will contribute to accelerating genomics breakthroughs across cancer, infectious disease, and rare genetic disorders.
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. in a life sciences field or related discipline
- 8+ years experience with NGS product development
- Ph.D. with 5+ years NGS product development experience
- Experience in wet-lab work preparing nucleic acids for NGS
- Experience in dry-lab programming for NGS data analysis
- Foundational knowledge of human genetics
- Foundational knowledge of cancer biology
- Foundational knowledge of statistics
- Industry experience developing and supporting NGS products with software components
- Experience developing bioinformatics workflows for NGS assays for non-technical users
- Ability to occasionally lift, move or carry equipment up to 10lb
- Ability to frequently work in a laboratory environment for extended periods
- Ability to travel to other IDT sites or scientific conferences (< %5)
