Render routine nursing care to critically or acutely ill adult patients, including young adults through geriatric age groups, under supportive supervision. Assess patient history, physiological, and psychosocial status while administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing skin care. Educate patients and families regarding radiation therapy procedures, treatment goals, and symptom management. Coordinate multimodality treatment schedules and counsel on sexuality and end-of-life issues. Monitor patients during conscious sedation, brachytherapy, and anesthesia, and refer as needed for social work, psychiatry, and therapy. Develop policies and participate in Oncology Committee Meetings and the Magnet Model.
