Job Summary
Charge Nurse, L&D Nights: lead bedside nursing in labor and delivery, oversee patient flow and bed management, assign staff, and prioritize care on a fast-paced unit. Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and the care team to ensure safe, evidence-based, and family-centered care. Provide direct patient care as needed, perform maternal and fetal assessments, monitor electronic fetal status, administer medications (including oxytocin and magnesium sulfate), and support vaginal and cesarean births. Lead and mentor bedside nurses and support staff, orient new teammates, promote competency, and drive quality, safety, and shared governance initiatives within a mission-driven, diverse organization.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Experience as Charge Nurse or team lead in Labor & Delivery on a high-acuity obstetric unit
- Strong fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency management skills
- Ability to work night shifts and manage multiple priorities
- Leadership and mentoring abilities with bedside nursing staff and support teams
- Familiarity with obstetric medications such as oxytocin and magnesium sulfate
- Commitment to patient-centered, culturally sensitive care and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
