Staff Revenue Accountant

Job Summary
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue accounting close process, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 for all customer contracts. Evaluate new contracts, modifications, and change orders to determine appropriate accounting treatment, analyzing performance obligations and transaction price allocation. Prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting complex revenue conclusions and review contract assets, liabilities, and unbilled receivables. Partner with Contracts, Program Management, and Controllership to review terms prior to award and support proposal development. Maintain SOX-compliant controls over revenue processes and coordinate revenue-related audit requests with external auditors. Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement within revenue accounting workflows. Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and Cost Accounting Standards for government contracting activities.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., conditional resident, asylee or refugee (protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
- 8 years of progressive revenue accounting experience
- B.S./B.A. in Accounting or Finance
- minimum of 6 years of experience with a relevant M.S./M.A.
- CPA
- Advanced expertise in ASC 606 Revenue Recognition
- Advanced expertise in ASC 340 Contract Costs
- Extensive experience with government contract structures, contract modifications, and variable consideration
- Strong knowledge of Stand-alone Selling Price (SSP), Remaining Performance Obligations (RPO), contract assets/liabilities, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivables
- Working knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting and financial statement presentation
- Experience with government contracting regulations (FAR/DFARS), project accounting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- SOX compliance and technical accounting research experience
- Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to resolve complex revenue accounting matters
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Acumatica, or Microsoft Dynamics
- Experience with revenue automation and revenue management tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
