Staff Research Engineer, Discovery Team

Staff Research Engineer on the Discovery Team responsible for removing bottlenecks toward scientific AGI, scaling research ideas from prototype to production, and building benchmarks and evaluation frameworks for model capabilities in scientific workflows. The role emphasizes end-to-end work across the full stack, with emphasis on language model training/evaluation/inference, distributed training systems, performance optimization, vm/sandboxing, and large-scale data pipelines. Strong candidates have 8+ years of ML research experience, familiarity with large-scale LLM pipelines, and a proven ability to translate research concepts into scalable engineering solutions. Desirable extras include reinforcement learning experience, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud deployment at scale; visa sponsorship is available. The role is based in one of Anthropic’s US offices with a location-based hybrid policy requiring presence in office at least 25% of the time.
