Job Summary
Assess patient readiness for surgery by collecting history, vital signs, and relevant data. Prepare patients for procedures through education on medications and post-operative care while establishing nursing diagnoses and goals. Implement interventions in collaboration with healthcare professionals, evaluate patient responses, and adjust care plans accordingly. Delegate and supervise interventions as appropriate, educate families and colleagues, and ensure all paperwork and consent forms are completed. Maintain a safe environment for effective nursing care across the Ambulatory Care Unit, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, Pre-Anesthesia Clinic, and Endoscopy. Requires rotating weekend and on-call schedules with 8-hour day shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an RN accredited nursing program
- Active State of Vermont RN license
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
- BSN
- 3-5 years recent outpatient clinical nursing experience
- Acute care experience
- Ability to think quickly and respond to multiple requests for information
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- significant use of PC monitor
- Stressful environment due to extremely busy board and Emergent situations
- Ability to adapt to a diversity of customers
- Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits
- Close Vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
- Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
- Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
- Ability to hear calls
- Ability to hear instructions from physician/department staff/others
