Job Summary
Staff Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology Department applies ionizing radiation to a diverse patient population per Radiation Oncologist prescription; operates radiation-producing equipment with safety measures; performs complex, precise technical procedures; participates in Quality Control monitoring; delivers precise therapy to designated treatment areas; assesses patients across age groups (adolescent, adult, geriatrics); documents in EMR; supports team with additional tasks; seeks assistance when needed; reports adverse reactions per policy; educates patient/family on side effects and use of blocks, wedges, and other treatment aids; follows procedures to ensure precise treatment per physician and physicist instructions; performs patient set-ups and simulations; schedules patients and communicates changes; maintains safety protocols (radiation badges, universal precautions); participates in daily warm-up procedures; contributes to on-call rotations; acts as clinical instructor for RTT and RTR students; performs other duties as assigned; complies with WellStar policies and code of conduct.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or Accredited Program in Radiation Therapy
- ARRT-T - ARRT Radiation Therapy
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- Minimum 2 years Experience in Radiation Therapy
- Graduate of accredited radiation therapy program
