Job Summary
Design and build new systems and instrumentation to accelerate development of Voya's metal-air fuel cell generators. Work with material scientists to ideate, deploy, and improve research platforms, while developing new sensors and sensing technologies for the generators. Document assembly and operating procedures for new equipment and systems. Apply multidisciplinary expertise across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to develop high-performance, reliable, and easy-to-use test systems and product prototypes. Help scale technology to first commercial deployments.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience designing and building custom process, laboratory, or automation equipment
- Experience with sensors/instrumentation and data acquisition systems
- Experience with pumps and fluid handling
- Basic CAD proficiency
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- Full-time on-site
- Location in Hayward, CA
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing hardware across several disciplines of engineering
- Experience with at least 2 of the following: Prototype fabrication using mills/lathes and 3D printing, ECAD and PCB design experience, Generating and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and electrical wiring diagrams, Hands-on exposure to electrochemical systems like fuel cells, batteries, and/or electrolyzers and relevant characterization equipment like potentiostats, Experience with precipitation and filtration equipment
