Job Summary
Staff or Principal Product Designer role, the most senior IC on the team, reporting to the Head of Design. This is a full-time, remote-first position with a Melbourne-based option and an office in Melbourne CBD. The role emphasizes taking on high-priority, cross-functional product challenges and actively shaping design direction for horizon projects, designing mobile and web experiences used by hundreds of thousands of users, leading discovery and research to understand user motivations and energy literacy, and partnering with Product and Engineering leaders to align on strategy and ensure high-quality execution. You will raise the design bar across the organization, mentor designers, and operate with high independence to raise overall product experience quality. The team is based in Australia, with a preference for Melbourne time zone and regular work-from-home arrangements, and there is a strong emphasis on craft, clarity, and cross-functional influence.
Required Qualifications
- Well over 10 years of experience in product design
- at least 3 years operating at Staff or Principal level
- track record designing mobile and web experiences at scale across platforms and markets
- ability to shape direction in ambiguous problem spaces
- lead through craft and example; not focused on people management
- comfortable working with PMs, engineers, and executives
- strong visual and interaction craft
