Job Summary
Design, build, and maintain backend APIs and services for an AI-native platform that powers marketing and creative teams at e-commerce brands. Architect backend systems using Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL, defining service boundaries, data models, and API contracts that other engineering teams rely on. Lead complex, multi-engineer projects from design through production, directing AI coding tools to accelerate output while rigorously reviewing and owning shipped code. Own hard third-party integrations for ad-platform APIs, managing auth, rate limits, retries, and failure modes, and design asynchronous, event-driven systems that handle real production load. Simplify data architecture at scale through schema design and ETL pipelines that support growing data volumes.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years building and maintaining large-scale software applications
- Staff or Lead IC level experience
- Experience setting technical direction
- Track record of taking products from 0 to 1
- Experience at Series A to C startups
- Ability to raise an engineering team's bar
- Experience with design reviews
- Experience with mentoring
- Experience establishing standards
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Ability to translate technical issues into business impact
