Job Summary
Provide comprehensive primary care to Rice University students within Student Health Services (SHS), including acute, chronic, and preventive services; conduct physical exams, diagnose conditions, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and coordinate referrals as needed. Deliver sexual and reproductive health services (STI screening, contraception counseling), monitor medications and side effects, and address mental health needs with coordination to counseling services. Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in the electronic health record (EHR); ensure licensure and CME requirements are current; collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health providers, and university departments to support campus-wide health initiatives. This on-site, part-time (0.90 FTE at 36 hours/week) role involves working within SHS to balance clinical, administrative, and strategic responsibilities and contribute to student health and wellness initiatives. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulations while providing culturally competent, student-centered care.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD) or Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution
- Licensure to practice medicine in Texas
- 3+ years of postdoctoral experience in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or a related primary care specialty
- 3 years of residency training and board eligibility or certification in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
- Registration with the Texas DPS and the DEA for appropriate prescription writing
