Job Summary

Conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, and manage chronic conditions for patients within the Arizona Department of Corrections facility. Formulate working diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and evaluate therapeutic regimens while responding to medical emergencies throughout the site. Coordinate rounds in medical and infirmary units and lead educational activities related to patient care. Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates, collaborate with correctional officers and other medical professionals, and maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO)
  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in STATE
  • A current DEA registration in STATE
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine
  • Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills
  • Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to collaborate with medical team
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Desired Qualifications

  • BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
