Job Summary
Conduct physical exams, diagnose illnesses, and manage chronic conditions for patients within the correctional facility. Formulate working diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and evaluate patients returning from off-site care. Respond to medical emergencies throughout the site and lead educational activities for staff. Perform rounds in medical and infirmary units while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and court mandates. Collaborate with correctional officers and other medical professionals to protect patient rights and dignity. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to correctional healthcare policies and legal requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO)
- Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in Arizona
- A current DEA registration in STATE
- Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine
- Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills
- Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to collaborate with medical team
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
