Job Summary

Dispense prescribed medications, drugs, and pharmaceuticals ensuring compliance with FDA mandates, state laws, and manufacturer restrictions. Verify prescriptions by contacting physicians for clarification, resolving discrepancies, and obtaining necessary insurance authorizations while managing denials. Perform quality control and DUR checks, document patient interventions, and report adverse events to collectors like MedWatch. Oversee pharmacy safety, supervise staff, and act as Pharmacist-in-Charge during absences. Partner with the Regional Sales Manager on business development and conduct in-service presentations for referral sources. Maintain confidentiality, uphold patient rights, and establish professional relationships with prescribers.

Required Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. or BS Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
  • Successful completion of state pharmacy board examination
  • Pharmacist license current and in good standing in the state of Tennessee
  • Maintains continuing education requirements
  • Three to five years' experience in the practice of pharmacy
  • Comprehends federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to the practice of pharmacy
  • Is familiar with workflow concepts relating to the practice of retail pharmacy
  • Shows full understanding of controlled substance rules and regulations as dictated by the Drug Enforcement Agency, as well as state and local laws and regulations
  • Detailed understanding of REMS programs relevant to specialty pharmaceutical products
  • Understands the limited distribution process for specialty pharmaceutical products
  • Has sufficient knowledge, training and expertise in pharmacotherapeutics to oversee the pharmacy patient management program
  • Possesses leadership skills and abilities
