Staff Pavement Engineer - Pavement and Asset Management

Job Summary
Conduct field inspections of pavement and non-pavement assets, including distresses, sidewalks, curb ramps, and markings, while collecting and uploading data for condition surveys. Manage data entry, update pavement and asset management databases, and perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency. Support basic data analysis using spreadsheets and tools, assist with GIS-based mapping and asset inventories, and prepare reports, tables, and pavement condition scenarios. Safely operate company vehicles and handle basic field equipment while working independently in the field and traveling regularly to project sites within Orange County. Coordinate with Project Managers and the Asset Management team to maintain professional interactions with clients and the public. Obtain MTC Rater Certification within a defined timeframe after hire.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field such as Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or similar
- Interest in pavement engineering, infrastructure, and asset management
- 0 to 2 years of experience in engineering, field inspection, data collection, or related work
- Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and asset management databases
- Ability to write clear, well-organized technical summaries and reports
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and field assignments
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and inspection methodologies
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and openness to feedback
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively in an office environment
- Ability to read and follow maps and field plans
- Willingness to perform significant field work and travel
- Valid California driver's license, or ability to obtain one upon hire
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with pavement management or asset management programs
- Familiarity with StreetSaver, MicroPaver, or similar asset management software
- Experience with GIS or CAD
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools used for data review, analysis, or reporting
- Experience with basic statistical or data analysis tools
- Prior field data collection or pavement condition inspection experience
