Job Summary

Lead the assembly, integration and test for novel optical systems on the Anduril Imaging team, coordinating with optical suppliers and internal teams to mature prototypes into production-ready solutions. Develop and execute alignment plans and procedures, validate performance through lab, field, and airborne testing, and oversee integration and testing vendors to scale production. Evaluate prototype and production optical system performance to identify root causes and drive improvements, and collaborate with test and evaluation teams to qualify optical performance. Requires a BS in Engineering or Physics/Astronomy with optics concentration and 5+ years in opto-mechanical assembly, integration, and testing; familiarity with optical tolerancing, interferometry, MTF/PSF, Zemax or CODE V, and Matlab/Python; eligible for US Secret clearance. Preferred qualifications include MS or PhD in Optics, leadership experience, and experience with interferometry software such as Zygo MX, 4D4Sight, or Apre Reveal.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or Physics/Astronomy with a concentration in Optics
  • 5+ years of experience with complex opto-mechanical systems, performing optical assembly, integration, and testing in the workforce
  • Knowledge of how electro-optical systems are specified, developed, manufactured, and tested
  • Experience with optical tolerancing, lens manufacturing methods, and drawing standards
  • Knowledge and experience laboratory testing including optical component testing (spectral transmission, interferometry, etc.), optical system alignment, and testing (EE, MTF, PSF)
  • Demonstrated experience in the integration, test, and performance requirements verification and validation of optical systems
  • Experience in prototype and production development, including requirements validation
  • Experience with optical design and analysis software (Zemax or CODE V)
  • Data analysis proficiency in Matlab, Python, or similiar
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
