Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for pediatric patients within the Special Care Nursery, focusing on family-centered, patient-centered, and evidence-based practice. Provide specialized care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs while performing quality improvement, safety, systems-based, and informatics duties. Lead and mentor staff through education and precepting new employees, actively collaborating with provider teams to ensure efficient operations and legendary customer service. Participate in temporary assignments across the Akron Children's Hospital enterprise as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio
- Experience working with various levels within an organization
- Experience working an electronic medical record system (i.e. EPIC) or similar software
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure to prioritize and complete required tasks and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner
- Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience
