Job Summary
Deliver direct and indirect patient care on the Progressive Care/Stepdown Unit while applying the nursing process to culturally diverse populations. Assess patients to identify learning needs, develop individualized plans of care addressing physical, psychosocial, and spiritual requirements, and efficiently implement interventions with continuous evaluation of effectiveness. Manage medication administration, pain management, and unit-specific skills while participating in quality improvement, risk management, and shared governance activities. Provide education and orientation to new staff, delegate patient care activities, and utilize real-time computer documentation. Maintain current licensure by the Maryland Board of Nursing and adhere to Luminis Health credentialing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Adherence to the credentialing requirements of Luminis Health as stated in the nursing bylaws
- Completion of a BSN within 5 years of date of hire
- Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing
- BLS - American Heart Association Health Provider
- Certification in Medical Interpretation (if serving as a bilingual/multilingual interpreter)
- PALS (Pediatrics Unit, Postanesthesia Care Unit, Endoscopy, Procedural Care Unit, Interventional Radiology)
- ACLS (Heart and Vascular Unit, Neuro Care Unit, ICU/IMU, Interventional Radiology, Postanesthesia Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Resource Nurses, Emergency Department, Prep, Telemetry, Outpatient Infusion, DRCC Bowie, Observation Unit, Endoscopy, Procedural Care Unit, Cardiac Cath Lab, Flex Nursing Unit, Operating Room, Cardiac Cath Lab, Observation Unit, DCMC IP Mental Health, Edwards Pre-Op and PACU)
- ACLS within 6 months for New Grad and New to Specialty RN's in ICU
- Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification within 6 months of hire if experienced or within 1 year for new graduate nurse (Oncology Unit)
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation (Mother and Baby Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Labor and Delivery Unit, Women's Surgical Unit)
