Job Summary
Assess patients prior to and during procedures, screen for health needs, and determine pre-medication protocols. Administer and oversee intravenous injections of contrast media and medications, while performing IV insertion, VADs, and blood specimen collection. Assist radiologists, anesthesiologists, and cardiologists during various procedures and manage acute reactions in adult and pediatric patients. Monitor patients closely, provide and explain discharge instructions, and perform non-routine tasks requiring analytical judgment for emergency situations. Maintain accurate duty records and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members including physicians and front desk staff.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in IV insertion/ VADs
- Proficient in blood specimen collection
- Administer and oversee intravenous injections of contrast media and other medications (IV and PO)
- Assist Radiologist, Anesthesiologist and or Cardiologist as needed during various procedures
- Management of acute reactions (adult and pediatric)
- Monitor patients
- Give and explain discharge instructions
- Ability to perform non-routine tasks which require analytical ability and judgment for emergency situations
- manage stressful conditions and situations effectively
- Adapt to changing work environments related to changing needs of patients with acute, chronic and complex and/or terminal disease processes
- analysis of each situation and the ability to act accordingly when modifying procedures without compromising techniques or patient care
- current /valid State of New Jersey license
- CPR certification
- ACLS/PALS certifications
- complete annual training as required including OSHA
- Blood-borne Pathogen Category I training
- HIPAA training
- other categories as requested
- Maintain good working relationships and communication with internal staff, patients, physicians, and other medical office staff
- Maintain accuracy in the performance of duties including recording of ones own attendance
- Knowledge of all equipment necessary to perform job functions
