Job Summary
Staff Nurse - Emergency Department provides direct and indirect patient care as part of the health care team. Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, assessing patients, developing individualized care plans, administering medications and managing pain, and continuously evaluating outcomes. The role emphasizes clinical decision making, patient/family teaching, cultural sensitivity, participation in quality improvement activities (QI/CPI), unit governance, and education/orientation of new staff. Requires current RN licensure in Maryland, BLS, ACLS (and related certifications as specified by department), with potential BSN timeline expectations. The pay range is $34-$54 per hour equivalent annualized as $34,000-$54,000 depending on hours. Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing
- BLS - American Heart Association Health Provider
- ACLS (required for multiple departments: Heart and Vascular Unit, ICU/IMU, Emergency Department, etc.)
- PALS (required in Pediatrics, PACU, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, etc.)
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation (Mother and Baby Unit, NICU, L&D, Women’s Surgical Unit)
- Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification within 6 months (for Oncology)
- New Grad and New to Specialty RN’s in ICU must get ACLS within 6 months
- BSN within 5 years where applicable
- Interpreting certification if bilingual/multilingual interpreter role
