Job Summary

Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis using the nursing process and laboratory results, while evaluating medication compatibility and safety. Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses to arrange treatments and act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness. Variable 1st shift Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with rotating on-call duties. Current state RN licensure and CPR certification required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience necessary. Full COVID-19 vaccination required.

Required Qualifications

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • CPR certification
  • Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
  • Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing, OR-related experience
  • Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
  • A current, valid driver's license
  • A good driving record
  • COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption process)

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous apheresis or dialysis experience
