Job Summary
Staff Mechanical Engineer focusing on Thermal Systems Engineering for data-center cooling. Responsible for design, analysis, and optimization of water-cooled chiller systems, performance selections, system-level thermal analyses, and integration of applied chillers to achieve high efficiency and reliability. Collaborates with engineering, marketing, sales, and operations to ensure thermal compatibility, reviews drawings and submittals, resolves thermal performance issues, engages with vendors/consultants to meet industry standards, and supports innovation and continuous improvement in data-center thermal management. Requires advanced degree options with 2–8+ years depending on degree, strong emphasis on performance modeling of HVAC/chiller systems, and familiarity with ASHRAE/AHRI standards; proficiency in thermal analysis software (e.g., EES, Dymola); excellent problem-solving and communication skills; team-focused with a passion for innovation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in HVAC engineering, with emphasis on performance modeling, design, and testing of chiller or commercial refrigeration systems
- OR Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 5+ years in HVAC engineering, with emphasis on performance modeling, design, and testing of chiller or commercial refrigeration systems
- OR PhD in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 2+ years in HVAC engineering, with emphasis on performance modeling, design, and testing of chiller or commercial refrigeration systems
Desired Qualifications
- Expertise in thermal analysis software (e.g., EES, Dymola)
- Proven experience on large-scale data-center cooling projects
- Familiarity with ASHRAE and AHRI standards
