Job Summary
Staff Mechanical Engineer, Turbomachinery leads the design, development, and integration of rotating turbomachinery components for the Heat Processing Unit (HPU) platform, including compressors, turbines/expander stages, seals, and bearings. Responsibilities include architecture and detailed design, aerodynamic and thermodynamic modeling, rotor dynamics and structural analyses, integrating turbomachinery into the heat processing system, creating CAD models and drawings, leading test campaigns, coordinating with suppliers and manufacturing, ensuring performance targets and reliability, and contributing to roadmaps for next-generation compressors and expanders. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years of end-to-end turbomachinery experience, proficiency with CAD tools, knowledge of rotor dynamics and turbomachinery thermodynamics, and hands-on experience with rotating hardware. Desired qualifications include a Master’s degree or higher and 8+ years of relevant experience, CFD and performance modeling experience, FEA tools proficiency, and programming in Python.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in end-to-end turbomachinery design, analysis, and testing (compressors, turbines, expanders, or high‐speed rotating systems)
- Strong proficiency with CAD tools (Siemens NX or equivalent)
- Knowledge of aerodynamic design principles, rotor dynamics, and turbomachinery thermodynamics
- Demonstrated hands‐on experience building, assembling, or testing rotating hardware
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and high‐speed system considerations
- Highly self‐motivated, detail‐oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities with excellent communication skills
