Job Summary
Staff IT Systems Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Linux-based IT infrastructure across enterprise environments, including manufacturing virtualization. Responsibilities include maintaining Linux infrastructure for 24/7 uptime, monitoring and correcting server performance, applying patches and upgrades, scripting with Bash, Perl, Python, and creating Ansible Playbooks, managing high-availability services in VMware ESXi, and coordinating with 3rd-party vendors. Must bring a BS in CS or equivalent, 5+ years as a Linux Administrator, experience with Linux services (DHCP, TFTP, DNS, SSH) and multiple Linux distributions, and strong automation, security hardening, and documentation skills. Desired Linux certifications (RHCE/RHCT/LPIC/Linux+) are a plus. Location listed as Georgetown, TX; onsite role with no explicit relocation offered in the posting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5+ years of working experience as a Linux Administrator
- Experience with designing and managing high-availability services
- Experience with system engineering on an enterprise-level, highly integrated, complex IT environment
- Experience with Linux encryption, Samba, Bash (shell scripts), Perl, Python scripting, Linux patching + dependency resolution and performance improvements
- Ability to evaluate security requirements and perform system hardening
- Experience with Linux services, including DHCP, TFTP, DNS, SSH
- Experience with CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat Linux
- Linux certification a plus (RHCE, RHCT, LPIC, Linux+)
- Experience with creating Ansible Playbooks and/or running and troubleshooting Playbooks
- Experience managing, installing, and configuring complex virtual environments with High Availability in VMware ESXi
- Experience supporting enterprise storage solutions including but not limited to, vSANs, LUNs, NetApp, QNAP, NAS, Pure Storage, EMC
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Support daily backup and recovery operations
