Job Summary
Staff Hardware Design Engineer at Tarana leads architecting and designing PCBs and high-speed wireless hardware from prototype through NPI and high-volume production, with emphasis on digital/analog front-end, RF performance optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. Role requires 12+ years in wireless hardware design (5G client devices, base stations, Wi‐Fi) and hands-on experience with high-speed SerDes, DDR4, PCIe, FPGAs, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network testing. Responsibilities include schematics/layout, design recommendations to improve RF performance, and leading value engineering efforts to improve performance and cost. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) and experience coordinating with product management, operations, and engineering leadership to define requirements and ensure successful production ramp.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred)
- 12+ years of hardware design and test experience
- Wireless hardware design expertise (digital and analog) with complex high-speed board design
- Ability to define subsystem performance requirements, analyze via modeling/simulations
- Design PCBAs from concept to high-volume production
- Hardware test equipment usage (spectrum analyzers, power meters, Ethernet testing, high-speed serial lanes) and 4-corner testing
- Familiar with design cycles and Arena PLM
- Knowledge of networking is highly desirable
- Cross-functional collaboration with compliance, RF, OPS, and SW teams
- Strong leadership and element of value engineering
