Job Summary
Conduct field exploration and observation of earthwork and foundation construction on projects of varying scales to assess soil conditions and construction-related geotechnical issues. Prepare field reports and perform geotechnical analyses including slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, deep foundation design, and seismic evaluation. Assist with gathering field data and samples, coordinating them for testing, and provide support to geotechnical teams at other locations as needed. Requires a valid driver's license, domestic travel, and ability to perform heavy physical work. Located in Baton Rouge, LA, with a salary range of $67,000 - $91,000.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification
- Proven problem solving
- Professional-level verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver's license
- One year of driving experience in the United States
- Must be willing to travel domestically as needed
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion
- Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and view of a monitor/screen
- Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed
- All employees are responsible for conducting their work in a safe manner
- This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them to the designated project manager in a timely manner
- Participating in project safety briefings
- Wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field
- Completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning field work
