Job Summary

Conduct geotechnical investigation programs by planning, permitting, implementing field data collection, and writing interpretative reports. Perform engineering analyses and design calculations for tunnels, shafts, foundations, temporary excavation support systems, and soil/rock slopes. Execute geologic and seismic hazard evaluations and prepare construction drawings and specifications for underground infrastructure. Document the basis for analyses, designs, or recommendations in technical reports and calculation packages. Collaborate as an integral team member on complex, multi-discipline projects under the direction of senior engineers, communicating with internal staff and clients. Requires EIT certification, BS in geotechnical or civil engineering, and familiarity with slope and seismic analysis software.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Geotechnical/Civil or Geological Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Completion of relevant coursework or experience in several of the following: geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, subsurface investigation methods, foundation design
  • Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities
  • Strong analytical and technical communication skills
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel for short-term assignments

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software for slope and excavation stability analysis, seepage analysis, seismic site response analysis (such as SLIDE, UNWEDGE, DEEPSOIL/RSSeismic) is a plus
