Job Summary
Conduct environmental and engineering geological studies, evaluations, modeling, assessments, and investigations for infrastructure projects under supervising geologist direction. Perform field investigations, coordinate laboratory testing programs, and prepare work plans while interpreting data and test results. Draft technical reports, inspection and observation reports, and project documentation for review before submission to agencies and clients. Review field testing practices and observation work products to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Requires valid driver's license, ability to travel, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering
- Geologist In Training (GIT) a plus
- Ability to accurately report observations and test results through clear, concise verbal and written communications
- Knowledge of current regulatory requirements and industry standards for the types of projects performed
- Effective interpersonal communications with clients, contractors, and colleagues
- Demonstrated knowledge and appropriate application of testing methodologies and related equipment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Must have valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary projects to various contractors and clients
- Occasional ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials up to 50 pounds
- Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, and frequent use of telephone and keyboard to communicate
- Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Intermittently walk, stand, kneel, bend, reach and stoop
- May be required to work outside normal business hours
- Frequent travel may be required, including some out-of-town assignments
- Must adhere to NV5 safety practices and policies
Desired Qualifications
- Geologist In Training (GIT) a plus
- AutoCAD and GIS experience a plus
