Job Summary
Staff Engineer in the ODSP PHY SW Team responsible for embedded C firmware for RISC‐V based multi-core MCU and DSP control blocks, delivering a C SDK and a Python GUI for in-field debugging, plus test infrastructure. Role combines technical leadership with project coordination across cross-functional teams to drive architecture, design, development, testing, and customer-facing feature development (e.g., FEC, CMIS, VDM telemetry) for Marvell’s DSP HW in pluggable optical modules. Responsibilities include translating complex specifications into actionable requirements, performing architecture reviews, debugging with HW/Systems teams, leading Agile sprint planning, coordinating with Marketing/AE/Test/Validation/SW_QA/Hardware, and supporting customers with feature definitions and bring-up activities. Required capabilities include memory-constrained embedded C/C++ firmware development, understanding of embedded SoC/microcontroller architecture, GPIO/ISRs, and proficiency in C and Python; familiarity with SERDES, Ethernet/PCIe PHYs, DSP concepts, and hardware/software debugging tools is preferred. Education required: BS/MS/PhD in CS/EE or related field; base pay range provided.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Software Engineering, or related technical field(s)
- Experience in memory-constrained embedded C/C++ firmware development
- Architecture design & development, code reviews & testing, through to customer production
- Understanding of embedded SoC, microcontroller architecture (RISC-V a plus), memory-mapped hardware interfaces, GPIOs, ISRs
