Job Summary
Metrology-focused Staff Engineer role developing and implementing precise, high-throughput inspection and process-control solutions for high-volume wafer manufacturing of complex thin-film head structures. Responsibilities include creating spectroscopy ellipsometry models to measure film thickness and refractive index, AFM-based recipes, and X-ray fluorescence analysis; collaborating with process engineering and cross-functional teams; establishing baselines, calibrations, and robust metrology strategies; diagnosing operational issues and deviations; presenting results to management and shop floor; and enabling yield improvement and cycle-time reduction through automated corrective actions. Required: advanced degree in physics/chemistry/engineering/material science and programming in SQL, Python, Matlab, JSL, or C#. Preferred: hands-on clean room/wafer fab experience and spectroscopy/film-stack modeling expertise; knowledge of AFM, tunneling TEM, and production metrology tools.
Required Qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical), material science
- Programming/scripting experience in SQL, Python, Matlab, JSL, C#, etc.
- Strong detail-oriented work habits
- Ability to complete projects on schedule
