Staff Engineer - SME Dryers

Job Summary
Lead technical reviews for major capital projects involving spray dryers, fluid bed systems, and associated powder and air handling infrastructure. Serve as the final authority on drying-related engineering decisions, making high-quality technical choices in ambiguous or high-risk situations regarding fouling, powder quality, and capacity. Establish and maintain enterprise design standards, operating guidelines, and best practices for food safety, hygienic design, and powder hazard mitigation across the manufacturing network. Drive Operational Excellence by identifying optimization opportunities for yield, energy efficiency, and uptime while evaluating emerging low-energy drying technologies. Partner with Commercial, R&D, and Operations to support product pipeline development and assess the feasibility of new product platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (ChE preferred)
- 10+ years experience in membrane system process engineering and/or capital project development/execution
- Experience developing technical standards and specifications
- Demonstrated expertise in membrane system design, operation, troubleshooting and optimization
- Strong understanding of dairy processing
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to influence technical decisions across multiple facilities and stakeholder groups
- Experience facilitating technical reviews and driving follow-up actions
- Experience supporting capital projects
- Experience implementing standards and effective change management to ensure adoption
- Experience with whey processing, protein concentration, and dairy ingredient manufacturing
- Experience working with leading membrane system suppliers and OEMs
- An adequate knowledge of French
