Job Summary
Lead Python or Java backend engineering, software architecture, and React or Angular frontend development to build durable, scalable solutions for screening operations and logistics workflows. Own end-to-end technical solutions, applying AI-assisted engineering with rigorous review while driving continuous improvement to optimize system performance and reduce technical debt. Mentor junior engineers on best practices in system design and code quality, communicating architectural trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders across engineering, product, and scientific teams.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in Python or Java backend engineering
- Demonstrable experience in software architecture and integration patterns
- Demonstrable experience in AI-assisted engineering with rigorous review
- Demonstrable experience in React or Angular awareness
- Demonstrable experience in quality, test and documentation standards
- Demonstrable experience in screening and logistics workflow learning agility
- Demonstrable experience in technical leadership without line authority
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Fluent English, written and spoken
- Demonstrable experience in system design and building scalable solutions
- Demonstrable experience in database design, optimization and performance tuning
- Demonstrable experience in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in agriculture, life sciences, scientific computing or a regulated enterprise environment
- Experience building platforms, products or services used by multiple internal teams
- Experience working in distributed, international engineering organisations
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering team development
- Experience with monitoring, observability and performance optimization in production systems
