Staff Engineer - Production & Sourcing Systems

Job Summary
Staff Engineer to lead the evolution of production and sourcing systems, bridging business strategy and technical execution. You will define scalable, resilient architectures (microservices and event-driven), evaluate emerging technologies (including AI-driven development), establish engineering standards, mentor senior and mid-level engineers, and collaborate with Product Management, Data Science, and business users to translate needs into technical roadmaps. The role requires 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2+ years in a staff/principal or equivalent leadership role, retail domain familiarity (supply chain, inventory allocation, warehouse operations), strong backend and cloud skills (C# Core, React, Java; cloud platforms; GCP preferred), Kafka and event-driven patterns, SQL databases, and excellent communication. The position also values experience with Centric SAS or Bamboo Rose PLM and a pragmatic approach to balancing design with timely delivery. In-person presence is required at Pittsburgh or NYC headquarters, distribution centers or field locations for interviews, orientation and quarterly meetups, with a hybrid work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- at least 2+ years in a Staff/Principal or equivalent technical leadership role
- Retail Domain Expertise: experience in the retail or related sector with knowledge of supply chain, inventory allocation and basic warehouse operations
- Backend & Cloud: mastery of modern backend languages (e.g., C# Core, React, Java) and cloud platforms, preferably GCP
- Data & Event Streaming: strong experience with event-driven architectures using technologies like Kafka
- Database Design: proficiency with SQL databases, optimized for high availability and consistency
- Exceptional communication skills, ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- A pragmatic mindset balancing architectural design with business delivery speed
- Experience with Centric SAS solution or Bamboo Rose PLM
