Job Summary
Staff Engineer - Java at Early Warning: Design, develop, document, test, debug, and maintain software product applications; act as a technical leader, mentor junior team members, collaborate with Architecture and stakeholders; design features to enhance core product offerings; manage source code with Git; query platform data with SQL; work on complex Java Web Services using Spring Boot; track sprint work in Jira and document decisions in Confluence; build automated tests integrated into CI/CD; participate in risk management and protect system integrity. Located in Scottsdale, AZ; San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; or New York, NY with a hybrid work model. Requires a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in a related field, strong Java expertise, RESTful service design, Git, SQL, testing, and collaboration skills. Salary ranges listed reflect Phoenix and San Francisco locations: $145,000–$186,000 (Phoenix) and $143,640–$223,000 (SF), with eligibility for incentive plan and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10 or more years of related industry experience
- Advanced proficiency in Java
- Very good debugging, troubleshooting and low-level optimizations skills
- Proficient with Git source control
- Familiarity writing automated tests
- Advanced proficiency with SQL
- Advanced proficiency in RESTful service design
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and make the right trade-off decisions
- Able to troubleshoot complex bugs that may arise during development
