Job Summary
Own significant projects end-to-end, from technical design through implementation and rollout. Set technical direction across the healthcare data platform and member management solution, including Ruby on Rails APIs and Rust data-processing pipelines. Raise the bar on engineering standards, processes, and code quality across the team while mentoring engineers and serving as a technical leader. Apply strong technical judgment to steer AI-assisted development effectively. Thrive in a highly collaborative, fully remote environment with a preference for U.S.-based candidates. Collaborate closely with the Product team through architecture reviews and roadmap prioritization to build high-quality code through TDD and pair programming.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Track record of owning substantial projects from design through delivery
- Proficiency in both Ruby and Rust
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining production APIs
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines
- Technical taste and judgment to use AI-assisted development tools well
- Ability to thrive in highly collaborative engineering teams
- Value of transparent, positive communication
- Familiarity with the American health insurance and healthcare ecosystem
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Ruby on Rails
- Experience with Axum-based services
- Experience with Rust data-processing pipelines
- High degree of autonomy and influence on the culture and direction of the technical organization
- Ability to raise the bar on engineering standards, processes, and code quality across the team
